The Cairo-Durham Middle School Mentoring Program held a "Mixed-Up Mystery Menu" event afterschool on Nov. 16. Students were given a "Mystery Menu" to order from and were served three courses. Tons of laughs and plenty of games were played during the bonding session!

The Cairo-Durham Middle School yearbook staff is seeking candid and sports photos for the 2023-24 yearbook! Submissions with the grade and "candid" or "sports" in the subject line can be made via email to jsearing@cairodurham.org
Additionally, the yearbook staff is asking for baby photos of 8th grade students. Please submit baby photos of 8th grade students to dlacitignola@cairodurham.org with "baby pictures" in the subject line.

Due to an alert within our fire system ALL after school activities located on the MS/HS Campus are cancelled for today, Monday Nov. 27, 2023. This includes after-school tutoring, extended learning, and athletics. Nobody is permitted to be on school campus after 2:15 today.

7th grade students participated in an activity day put on by the 7th grade team where students connected lessons they learned around the book "Long Walk to Water" written by Linda Sue Park.
Mr. Shufelt taught the students the importance of water purification and the scarcity of clean drinking water.
Mrs. Caskey challenged the students to an active lab having the students see how quickly they could walk while carrying two liters of water.
Mr.Kohn challenged the students to interactive games and examined deeper connections to their class book.
Mrs. Trotti provided a history of the enduring issues that still exist in Sudan today.
Mrs. Lee helped facilitate having a Positivity Project lesson on having the students identify the importance of gratitude.
Congratulations to Jacob Young, Marc Cammarata, Nova Conti, Brendan Feeney and Kingston Czajkowki (not pictured) for being selected as the first ever Mustang Pride Award recipients for Cairo-Durham High School!
This is a new award given to student-athletes that possess the best character traits that every coach wants in their players: great sportsmanship, tries their best at all times, and brings a positive attitude to their practices and games.

On Nov. 21, Ms. Flubacher's 5th grade class had a Thanksgiving Feast! Students played Thanksgiving Bingo and were served a Thanksgiving Feast! The class shared what they were grateful for, their Thanksgiving traditions, and sat together as a class family. These types of activities not only celebrate the holiday, but also contribute to building a positive and supportive classroom environment.
