Come support this year's Junior class with a delicious breakfast! Pre-sale tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the link below or by scanning the QR code. Attention Prospective 2024-25 Pre-Kindergarten Families: The lottery drawing for full-day Pre-K for the 2024-25 school year will take place on May 21 at 10 a.m. Completed registration packets to be included in the lottery drawing are due to the Elementary School Main Office by May 20, 2024 at noon. Only 18 full-day slots are available for the 2024-25 school year. The drawing can be viewed live online or parents/guardians are welcome to attend in person. The District is still accepting half-day AM/PM Pre-K applications, as well. Those applications will be accepted until all slots are filled. We focus on child-centered learning with a curriculum built to develop early literacy and numeracy skills, social interaction, and overall Kindergarten readiness! Half & full-day programs available! Deadline for full-day program applications is April 21, 2024 or until all slots are filled, so enroll today! Students must turn 4-years-old on or before December 1, 2024 and reside in the Cairo-Durham Central School District to be eligible for Pre-Kindergarten in the 2024-25 school year. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There will be healthy snacks, movement activities and free information and samples from the Cairo Public Library! Hope to see you there!

Mrs. Burton's 8th grade science class at Cairo-Durham Middle School completed an an eclipse simulation on Tuesday, April 9, 2024! Attaching clay models representing the moon and Earth to a meter stick, the students used natural sunlight to test angles that would result in shadows being cast on the models. The class tried different combinations that simulated both solar and lunar eclipses. Way to go, Mustangs!

In a yummy lesson on April 8, 2024 during library time with Ms. Rell, students in Ms. Whitbeck's class learned about the solar eclipse with an interactive activity using Oreos!

The New York State Art Teachers Association, in partnership with NYSUT and in collaboration with our New York State Legislators, organizes this exhibit annually. The goals of the exhibit are to showcase art programs and to give talented student artists grades K-12 an opportunity to receive statewide recognition. The academic discipline of art is a critical component of a child’s education. Skills developed through visual arts experiences are unlike any other academic subjects and include promoting problem-solving, creativity, observation and communication. The visual arts are also a therapeutic resource for releasing stress and an excellent means of self-expression for students.

With Spring weather around the corner, the Cairo-Durham High School Earth Club has been starting flower seeding to create a butterfly garden on school grounds!
