Juniors in Ms. McDowell’s class at Cairo-Durham High School collaborated with their peers to create a “monster” to win the first ever “May Monster Mania of 2024.” Each team was required to use a set amount of provided materials (pipe cleaners, googly eyes, string, popsicle sticks, and pompoms). You may notice some monsters include other creative materials—this played a small role in final decisions.
The overall goal was for students to identify a claim, two supporting reasons, a counter argument, rebuttal, and provide a conclusion. This means each team had to effectively and logically support their claim with reasoning to the judges to win. Ms. McDowell was joined by Mrs. Maassmann and Mrs. Lyndon as “Monster Mania judges.” We had a blast! Congratulations to Brendan, Zander, and Dylan for being named the winners!

Check out some of our talented 6th grade students at Cairo-Durham Middle School preparing posters for the Culture Fair on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cairo-Durham Middle School!

As we culminate "Teacher's Appreciation Week" at the Cairo-Durham Central School District, students in Ms. Flubacher’s class at Cairo-Durham Elementary School created presentations during library with Mrs. Rell for teacher appreciation week!
They took the time to complete Google Slides presentations, including details with reasons why their teacher is appreciated and shared the slideshows to their teacher and the rest of the class. Way to go students, and thank you to all of our teachers for all you do!
