
Tuesday was Teacher Student Swap Day for Spirit Week at CDES!



Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday for CDES's spirit week!





The boys Varsity Soccer team played at home last night in a very fast paced and physical game against Coxsackie-Athens in the first round of sectionals.
Zander Santarelli scored off a beautiful pass from Andrew Searing-Burke giving the Mustangs the lead which was answered shortly after by CA. The score was tied at 1-1 going into half.
With about 12 minutes left in regulation, Chase Kelly found the back of the net off a rebound from Oliver Schrull’s direct kick, giving the Mustangs the lead which they held until the buzzer. Both teams left all that they had on the field.
Cairo-Durham travels to Mechanicville on Saturday for a 4 pm start against the Red Raiders.

For the Anti-Bullying and Drug Prevention Theme Week, CDMS students and teachers participated in "walk in someone else's shoes day" and wore mismatched shoes or traded a shoe with a friend!

Varsity Volleyball had another great win last night over Germantown. Game scores were 16-25, 26-24, 25-20, and 25-19.
Player Highlights:
Danasia King: 26 assists, 2 kills, and 12 serve points with 3 aces.
Lauren Thompson: 1 kill and 13 digs.
Angelina Pitcher: 2 kills, 3 digs and 3 serve points.
Ava Zeun: 8 kills, 2 assists, 10 digs, and 6 serve points.
Addy Hall: 2 kills and 19 serve points with 3 aces.

Sophia Rennig: 7 kills and 5 blocks.
Katie Russell: 8 kills and 4 blocks.
The Cairo-Durham, Catskill Varsity Football team has added 2 new games.
On Monday, October 28, 2024 at 6pm at Catskill High School versus Taconic Hills and on Friday November 1, 2024 at 6pm at Catskill High School versus Coxsackie Athens.

Monday was Mustache Day at CDES kicking off Spirit Week hosted by the Student Council.


On Wednesday, October 23, Boys Varsity Soccer plays Coxsackie-Athens at 7pm, and on Thursday, October 24, Girls Varsity Soccer plays Fonda at 6:30pm. Both games are at home on the CDHS Varsity Field.

Grade 2 Thompson / Lopez Star of the Week: Westley.
Westley participated in all activities, completed his work, waited his turn patiently, and was kind to everyone all week! He was a true leader in all classes and on the line.
Grade 3 Whitbeck / Lopez Star of the Week: Vera.
Vera demonstrated respect, responsibility and kindness all week. She also participated in all activities, completed her work, and waited her turn patiently. Vera has been doing an extraordinary job during writing and is also learning Spanish this year!
Congratulations, Westley and Vera. Your teachers are proud of you!!!!

The CDES Student Council recently collaborated to brainstorm and develop a range of exciting new initiatives to benefit their peers!


The Cairo Durham Boys Varsity Soccer team hosted Berlin-New Lebanon for their senior game on this cold Tuesday night. After Coach Noah Warner, family, friends and fans honored the senior boys Richard Crianza, Zander Santarelli, Andrew Searing-Burke and Alan Lopez celebrating their contribution to the team, the two teams took the field. The Mustangs took an early lead and was able to hold on for the win with a score of 2 to 1.
Zander Santarelli had 2 goals, both assisted by Jonathan Saad.
Jake Young had some great saves in the goal to help seal the win for the Mustangs.
Seniors Richard Crianza, Zander Santarelli, and Andrew Searing-Burke displayed their soccer skill and each played a great game in front of the home crowd.
Mustangs are back on the road Friday against Rensselaer. Tonight’s win brings the Mustang to a 10 and 4 record.

Reminder: Today is the Parent-Teacher Conference Day on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the middle and high school. Meeting times are between 1-4 PM and 5-7 PM.


The Sources of Strength club recently attended the AFSP Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk.
Students earned community service hours for their PIG class supporting the cause. They assisted with the organization's raffle and CD students were honored when asked to hold the banner to lead the walk!



Athletic Study Hall will run tomorrow, Oct. 17, following early dismissal for student-athletes who need a place to stay until afternoon practices/games.
