
Boys Varsity Soccer traveled to Middleburgh yesterday for the 2nd round of the annual Kick-off Tournament. The boys beat Charlotte Valley 6-0, finishing in 3rd place in the tournament.

The boys are back in action Tuesday, at home, against Watervliet at 5:00.

The Girls Varsity Volleyball team defeated Taconic Hills last night in 4 sets, 25-20, 14-25, 25-14, and 25-21.
Player Highlights:
Ava Zeun had 22 serve receive passes, 5 kills, and 5 service points.
Addy Hall had 16 service points with 7 aces.
Danasia King set the ball 57 times with 11 assists, 5 service points with 3 aces.
Leia Sorokus added in 11 service points with 2 aces and 7 digs.

The Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer teams swept Catskill tonight in two intense, competitive matchups!
Girls Varsity secured their first league win beating Catskill in Cairo, 4-3. Aria McCabe scored 2 goals, Sadye Schneider and Amanda Ramos-Rivera each contributed a goal. Aria McCabe (2), Sadye Schneider, & Nia DeRose were credited with assists. Kayla Alberson recorded six saves in goal.
Boys Varsity went on the road to play under the lights in Catskill and came home with a 2-0 win. Zander Santarelli scored both goals, with Luis Cruz contributing an assist. Logan Walz secured the shutout in goal recording 8 saves in the process.
The girls are back in action tomorrow night at home under the lights at 7:00 PM and the boys hit the road again on Saturday heading to Middleburgh for the final round of the Kick-off Tournament.

Lauren Thompson led the team in passing with 8 serve receive passes and 4 digs.

The C-D Boys Cross Country team attended its 1st meet of the season yesterday afternoon and finished in 2nd place! Congrats to all the young men who have worked so hard these past 2 weeks and throughout the summer training to make C-D proud.

Support the Cairo-Durham Soccer Programs by getting a car wash on Sunday, September 15 at the elementary school! It starts at 9:30am and goes until 1pm. $15 per car.


On the first day of school yesterday, the Class of 2025 had a car parade from CDE to the HS as a kickstart to their senior year. Staff and faculty cheered them on as they arrived for their first day of school!

Welcome back to school for the 2024-25 school year!











Fall picture days are scheduled for September 12 and 13 at both the Cairo-Durham Middle and High Schools. Photos will be taken during the student's gym class.


During the Cairo-Durham Central School District Board of Education meeting on August 14, 2024, Herbert Tedford was appointed as the new Assistant Principal at the Cairo-Durham Middle and High School.
Mr. Tedford, originally from Colonie, lived in Pueblo, Colorado for 25 years and received his education from Colorado State University-Pueblo (formally known as the University of Southern Colorado). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Biology and Coaching and a Master of Arts in Special Education and School Administration. Mr. Tedford also earned a Certificate of Advanced Study from the College of St. Rose.
“In high school, I was positively impacted and had positive relationships with my coaches, teachers, and principals – I wanted to provide the same for young people,” Mr. Tedford said.
He has worked in school administration in Colorado, Connecticut, and New York. Mr. Tedford has served at both the middle and high school levels as a principal, a special education principal, and an assistant principal.
“I’m most excited about building relationships with students and being instrumental in helping them make good choices that will positively impact them now and later in life,” Mr. Tedford said. “I also enjoy providing guidance in choosing a post-secondary pathway in the 3 E’s – Employment, Enlistment, or Enrollment.”

Today, there was a kindergarten meet the teachers event at the elementary school! Principal Mr. Stein welcomed families to the school and shared a presentation. Soon-to-be kindergartners and their guardians toured the building, met their teachers, and took bus rides around the building to learn about bus safety.
