Questar III and HVCC STEM High School is now accepting applications from active 8th grade students only for their P-TECH and Early College High School Programs (ECHS). Tech Valley High School is now accepting applications from active 8th grade students only. As part of Tech Valley High School's application, you are required to attend a virtual or in person information session before filling out the application prior to March 3, 2023 and be on track to meet all requirements for successful completion of their 8th grade school year. It was so nice to pop into Media Arts today with Ms. Criswell and Ms. LaPierre. Students were working on their “Stop Motion” films. The students planned out their film prior to arranging their items and recording. Great job to all of our movie makers!




CDMS students had the opportunity to engage in a virtual field trip to the International Spy Museum in Washington D.C. as part of the Social Studies Literacy After School program.
Students learned about espionage and even had the chance to practice “catching spies.” Students worked on developing claims and supporting them with evidence. Ms. Young and Mrs. Rogers were incredibly proud of their reasoning skills & questions!

The chosen nominees will be honored at a Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Spring 2023 (date and location TBD).
Criteria:
Nominees must have contributed to the improvement of Cairo-Durham CSD with extensive service through: academics, athletics, coaching, teaching, administration, employment, volunteerism and/or community service.
Nominees can be past or present staff members, school administrators, Board of Education members, alumni and community members or organizations. (Please note that a former student nominee must be out of school for at least 10 years to be considered for induction into the Mustang Pride Hall of Fame.)
Some examples of extensive service/support include (but are not limited to):
Academics (e.g., teaching, tutoring).
Involvement in school athletics (e.g., coaches, officials, volunteers).
Mentoring.
Volunteer work/community service.
Community relations.

The Mustang Pride Hall of Fame was established in 2017 to recognize individuals and/or groups who have worked to support public education in the Cairo-Durham CSD community.

Robert Hallock of the Greene County Historical Society visited the seventh graders on Jan. 20 in his 18th century costume. Mr. Hallock told the story of the American Revolution from the perspective of General Nathaniel Greene for whom Greene County is named. He brought some props to share, including a block of tea similar to what was thrown overboard at the Boston Tea Party and hard tack.

UPDATE: The Cairo-Durham Central School District is closed on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023 due to continued inclement weather. There will be no afterschool activities and no PM BOCES programs.
The Snow Ball dance is coming to CDMS on Feb. 10! Pre-sale tickets will be on sale for $5 during the week of February 6-10 before morning announcements.

UPDATE: In addition to evening activities being canceled, the Wellness Center will also be closed today, Jan. 19, 2023 due to the impending weather.
Due to the impending weather, the Cairo-Durham Central School District will have an Early Dismissal on Thursday, January 19, 2023. The Middle School and High School will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. and the Elementary School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m. As a result, there will be no afterschool or evening activities.

There is also an in-person open house scheduled for Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
