The Cairo-Durham Central School District is excited to announce that Steven Nilsen has started as the second Assistant Principal at the Cairo-Durham Middle and High School, as of May 5, 2025.

On Saturday, April 26, the 7th Induction Class was inducted into the Mustang Pride Hall of Fame. Congrats to Diane Parette, Laura Skelly, and Ellsworth “Unk” Slater!
The induction ceremony and dinner was held at the Shamrock House in East Durham.
Today, on National Principals' Day, we proudly celebrate the incredible leadership of Christopher Stein and Catherine Dodig. Their dedication, support, and hard work with our students, staff, and families strengthen our school community every single day.

Cairo-Durham CSD is excited to announce that a Stewart's Holiday Match Grant, in the amount of $1,250, was recently awarded to the District!
The Stewart's Holiday Match Grant is a donation-matching program that Stewart's Shops has run since 1986. During the holiday season, generous donations from customers at Stewart's locations across the state are collected and matched by Stewart's. The funds are then allocated to various causes in the form of the Stewart's Holiday Match Grant.
The grant was written to purchase decodable books for students at Cairo-Durham Elementary. A large check was presented to the District by Ken Graham, manager of the Stewart's in Cairo.
Special thanks go to Sarah Hasbrook, a special education teacher, who applied for this grant! Thank you to Stewart's for your support.

Dear Cairo-Durham Families and Community,
After the heartbreaking and tragic loss of Patricia "Tricia" Whitbeck, the District has decided to have an early dismissal, District-wide, on Tuesday, April 29. Tricia's celebration of life will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Richard’s Funeral Home, 29 Bross Street, Cairo, New York from 11 AM to 1 PM, with interment to follow at the Acra Cemetery.
The middle and high schools will dismiss at 10:45 AM, and the elementary school and AM Pre-K will dismiss at 11:45 AM. There will not be any PM Pre-K or PM BOCES.
Our deepest condolences to Darrell Whitbeck and his family.

Lunch Menus for May are here!
School will be closed on Friday, May 23, 2025, through Monday, May 26, 2025. The District is able to lengthen the Memorial Day weekend by giving back an unused snow day. We hope the extended weekend, with Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, 2025, will find students and staff refreshed for the final stretch of the 2024-25 school year when they return on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Students, faculty, staff, admin, and board members competed in groups to answer questions about fun trivia. The teams came up with unique team names, including Skibidi Slicers and Tubatomic!

Students in Mrs. Karker's French classes recently celebrated Mardi Gras in style by creating their own colorful parade floats! Embracing the festivity, students worked to craft vibrant floats, showcasing their creativity. This hands-on activity helped them learn about French culture and Mardi Gras traditions. Afterward, they paraded the floats through the middle school!
On Thursday, March 20, the District hosted its annual Winter Sports Award Night. Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, MVP Coaches, and Mustang Pride award recipients!
