To prepare for their upcoming state investigation involving matter, Miss Prinz's fifth-grade students were given a hands-on activity to practice differentiating between physical and chemical changes!
Students worked with their table groups to build a poster where they had to categorize different items and situations into either physical or chemical changes. Once students completed their posters, they had the opportunity to decorate them and hang them in the hall to show off their hard work!

Penny Wars have arrived at Cairo-Durham Elementary School for the week of March 18-22, 2024!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Each classroom has their own coin collecting jug for collecting points. Each grade level will have a “sabotage” jug located in the main office.
- ADD POINTS to your classroom jug by adding pennies and dollar bills.
- SUBTRACT POINTS from other grade levels by adding silver coins to their “sabotage” jug
THE GRADE LEVEL WITH THE MOST POINTS WINS A FANCY LUNCH!

In Miss Wagor's & Mrs. Legg's class at Cairo-Durham Elementary School, students engaged with the concept of volume through a hands-on activity using unit cube blocks.
The class was challenged to construct as many rectangular prisms as possible, carefully recording each prism's dimensions. Through this activity, students were able to gain a deeper understanding of volume measurement and its real world applications!
