The Cairo-Durham Central School District is extremely proud of Cierra Ford, a Welding student attending Questar III’s Donald R. Starting April 19th, Twin County Recovery Services Inc. will be offering a six-week parenting class for active parents. The class will have a hybrid option of meeting virtual and/or in-person. The Class of 2023 is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser hosted by the Blackthorne Resort on Sunday, April 23rd from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $10 per person and there will be a dine-in and takeout option. The Easter Bunny made a special appearance at CDES for Mrs. MacGiffert's Pre-K class!

Students in Ms. Whitbeck's 3rd grade class traded in their Dojo points for a "Harry Potter" themed day on April 5th! Everything was Harry Potter themed all-day long. Students came in, found their Hogwarts acceptance letters, and then were sorted into their houses and got their wands. They solved word problems about time with the different characters, created their own spells and did cause-and-effect work with an excerpt from the first book! Then, students made slime during "potions" class, with their choice of Felix Felicious/liquid luck, skelegrow, or polyjuice potion. Way to go, class!

Mr. Hitchen and Mr. Yaple teamed up for a lesson about the Scientific Method! Students in Mr. Hitchen's/Mrs. Goodwin's 9th grade Global class are studying the scientific revolution, and Mr. Yaple's AP Chem students led a lesson about the Scientific Method.

April 6, 2023 Dear Cairo-Durham Families and Staff, It provides me great joy to wish you and your loved ones a happy and safe April Break! I hope you all take the time to enjoy your precious time together, whether it’s on a planned vacation or recharging from home. In the classroom, our students have been elevating the standard for achievement due in part to their determination to succeed and the comprehensive instruction from our amazing staff of dedicated professionals. Testing season is upon us and we are confident that our students and staff are prepared to excel. Outside of the classroom, our art, music, sports, and theater programs have all been performing at a high level, and it’s been an entertaining pleasure to soak it all in! We are excited to soak in the intensity of our Spring sports matchups, passion and creativity of the arts and are still relishing in the success of “West Side Story”. Our crew of dedicated members in administration and in the district office have been crucial to the district's daily operation and behind-the-scenes work, as we prepare the 2023-24 school year budget. We will have the full proposal to reveal in the coming weeks! Enjoy the break, and we look forward to welcoming students, faculty and staff back in-district on Monday, April 17th. This event offers you a chance to meet representative of agencies available to work with your child both immediately and when they leave Cairo Durham.
