Attention Prospective 2024-25 Pre-Kindergarten Families: The lottery drawing for full-day Pre-K for the 2024-25 school year will take place on May 21 at 10 a.m. Completed registration packets to be included in the lottery drawing are due to the Elementary School Main Office by May 20, 2024 at noon. Only 18 full-day slots are available for the 2024-25 school year. The drawing can be viewed live online or parents/guardians are welcome to attend in person. The District is still accepting half-day AM/PM Pre-K applications, as well. Those applications will be accepted until all slots are filled. 2024-25 Full-Day Pre-K Lottery Registration

The Mustang Pride Hall of Fame Class of 2024 induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Shamrock House in East Durham at 5 p.m. To purchase tickets to the event, please contact Tom Karnes, committee member, by email at tkarnes17@aol.com or phone, 518-821-0616. The New York State Art Teachers Association, in partnership with NYSUT and in collaboration with our New York State Legislators, organizes this exhibit annually. The goals of the exhibit are to showcase art programs and to give talented student artists grades K-12 an opportunity to receive statewide recognition. The academic discipline of art is a critical component of a child’s education. Skills developed through visual arts experiences are unlike any other academic subjects and include promoting problem-solving, creativity, observation and communication. The visual arts are also a therapeutic resource for releasing stress and an excellent means of self-expression for students.

It's never too late to recognize our change-makers in the Cairo-Durham Central School District! Aiden Penney, a member of the class of 2027 at Cairo-Durham High School, has been recognized as the Student of the Month for January 2024. Aiden describes his efforts in school as one who is a hard worker. Aiden’s dedication to academics and his continued effort in learning is evident through his membership in the Student Council. Aiden is also one who works hard in all of his classes. Outside of school, Aiden is involved in training and playing with his dogs. He also considers himself funny, smart, intelligent and loving. Beyond his academic pursuits and looking toward the future, Aiden aspires to be a lawyer or a judge. One interesting fact about Aiden is that he loves animals. Cairo-Durham High School is proud to honor students like Aiden, who set a good example for all of our students! Aiden is pictured with Mrs. Maassmann, who he has a great relationship with. They love to show their silly side together.
