Good morning, Cairo-Durham Families, Faculty and Staff!
The Cairo-Durham Central School District would like to send out a friendly reminder of the opening of our Wellness Center on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 to district adults, faculty and staff.

Once completed, these forms can be delivered to Secretary to the Superintendent Nyrelle Colon in the District Office.
The required forms, frequently asked questions and guidelines can all be found on the district website at this link: https://www.cairodurham.org/page/wellness-center.

It's Winter Concert season at Cairo-Durham CSD! Check out the schedule of upcoming performances all to be held at CDHS.

The Social Studies Literacy After School Program (6th-8th grade) hosted Bronck Museum Curator Shelby Mattice on Dec. 6. Mrs. Mattice taught our scholars what winter living was like during the 1600s and 1700s. She brought artifacts to share including a cattail candlestick, lantern, and beeswax.
On Dec. 8, students played a life-sized board game based on her visit. Students rolled the dice and landed on real 18th century scenarios. Students had to periodically reflect on their journeys in their journals.
In discussion and writing it became very evident that although a more simple time, life was challenging in many ways. Compared to back then, we have a lot more technology to help us in our every day lives.
Great job, students!

We're holding a districtwide Pink Out on Dec. 15 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness! We are asking everyone in addition to wearing pink, to bring in $1 to be donated to the Greene County Women's League, a local support system for individuals with breast cancer.

Congratulations to Ms. Metzler's 4th period ELA class who recently won her Quarter 1 Reading Challenge. This class was successful in reading the most independent reading books in eighth grade.

The Cairo-Durham Drama Club is excited to present the 2022 Middle School Musical, "Annie Jr.", on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. Performances will take place in the Cairo-Durham High School Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the nights of the performances.
Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning Best Musical, "Annie Jr." features everyone’s favorite little redhead in her very first adventure. With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie (Phoenix McCabe) charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan (Julie Speenburgh). Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Patrick Panyan), his personal secretary, Grace Farrell (Abagail Multari), and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
With a stellar cast and an amazing high school production team, you won’t want to miss this show! Come see the story unfold and support the over 60 students involved in producing Annie Jr!

Last week, Mrs. Karker's 7th grade French class made Eiffel Tower replicas with only the use of spaghetti and marshmallows!

Students in Math 7 Foundations were diligent in their timed stations with Ms. Caskey, Ms. Mattice, Ms. Lee and Mr. Shufelt.
