2024 Mustang Pride Hall of Fame Nominations Open!
Do you know a person or community organization that has given extensive service to the Cairo-Durham Central School District? Nominate them for the Mustang Pride Hall of Fame!
To nominate a person or community organization, please use this nomination form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfMg8B8x-nRUYL-EkALeiWsyzpATC10DzL_WNcjTAiiZnQbAA/viewform?usp=sf_link). See below for the criteria. Nominations will be accepted through February 1, 2024.
The chosen nominees will be honored at a Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Shamrock House on April 27, 2024.
Criteria:
Nominees must have contributed to the improvement of Cairo-Durham CSD with extensive service through: academics, athletics, coaching, teaching, administration, employment, volunteerism and/or community service.
Nominees can be past or present staff members, school administrators, Board of Education members, alumni and community members or organizations. (Please note that a former student nominee must be out of school for at least 10 years to be considered for induction into the Mustang Pride Hall of Fame.)
Some examples of extensive service/support include (but are not limited to):
Academics (e.g., teaching, tutoring).
Involvement in school athletics (e.g., coaches, officials, volunteers).
Mentoring.
Volunteer work/community service.
Community relations.

About the Hall of Fame:
The Mustang Pride Hall of Fame was established in 2017 to recognize individuals and/or groups who have worked to support public education in the Cairo-Durham CSD community.

1st Period Pre-Calculus students in Mrs. Jones' class enjoyed an Exponential/Logarithmic chapter review game on Dec. 18!
Students played a board game where they had to answer three types of style questions based on the color of the spot they landed on. The three types of questions were categorized as Solve Exponential/Logarithmic Functions, Expand/Condense Logarithmic Functions (Log Properties), and Convert Exponential to Logarithmic and vice versa.

The Cairo-Durham High School "12 Days of Spirit" will see theme days for grades 9-12 from Dec. 7 to Dec. 22!
The Boys Varsity Basketball Team won an exciting game last night against their cross-town rivals from Catskill. The game came down to the last seconds with a missed three by Catskill sealing the deal for the Mustangs with a 54-51 victory. The Boys JV Team had a much tougher game versus Catskill and ended up losing by a score of 57-21.
The Cairo-Durham Varsity Bowling Team had another great win versus Coxsackie-Athens yesterday afternoon by a score of 5-0. The next bowling match is on Tuesday, 12/19, versus Maple Hill. The Boys Varsity Volleyball Team opened their season with a resounding win over Voorheesville. The Mustangs won 3-0 with scores of 25-20, 25-18, and 25-13. Their next game is home on Monday, 12/18 versus Cobleskill-Richmondville.
Engineering students in Mrs. Manoli's class recently worked on computers to design bridges!

Even when working the snack shack during basketball games or finding time outside of the classroom, our students find ways to put the "i" in "Kind"! Thank you, Mustangs!


The Earth Club & Earth Club advisor, Mrs. Pine, met on Dec. 13 to create holiday decorations, which are on display throughout the media center at Cairo-Durham Middle School/High School!







Cairo-Durham High School sophomore Kingston Czajkowski continues to impress, as he surpassed the threshold on his first American Mathematics Association exam and has been invited to take the next level exam in February! Way to go, Kingston!

The Cairo-Durham High School "12 Days of Spirit" will see theme days for grades 9-12 from Dec. 7 to Dec. 22!
On Tuesday night the Boys JV Basketball Team lost to Hudson and the Boys Varsity Basketball Team lost to Hudson as well by a score of 75-59. The next game for the Mustangs is on Friday at 5:00.
Congratulations to Colin MacGiffert and Zander Santarelli of the Cairo-Durham Varsity Boys Soccer team for being invited to attend the Section II All Star Banquet for Boys Soccer on Dec. 10!
MacGiffert was selected as a Class B First-Team All Star and Santarelli was selected as a Class B Second-Team All Star. They attended the banquet with their coach Noah Warner.


On Tuesday night the Girls Varsity Basketball Team lost to Hudson by a score of 79-41. Their next game is on Friday at Catskill at 5:00.
On Monday, 12/11, the Girls JV Basketball Team lost to Pine Plains in a non-league contest 32-12. Also on Monday, the Varsity Bowling Team lost their first match of the season to Watervliet by a score of 5-0.

Cairo-Durham Central School District Launches “Mustang Monthly Alumni Spotlight”
CAIRO, NY – The Cairo-Durham Central School District is proud to announce the launch of the “Mustang Monthly Alumni Spotlight”.
In an effort to bridge the community and the Cairo-Durham Central School District, this provides an opportunity for community members to nominate members of the Cairo-Durham Class of 2018 or prior who have made an impact in the community, embrace Cairo-Durham pride and serve as role models to future generations of Mustangs to be recognized on the District’s platforms.
“Every day, Cairo-Durham alumni are making a difference in a variety of ways. This platform will allow the District to highlight the efforts, drive and Mustang pride possessed by those who go above and beyond,” said Cairo-Durham Central School District Superintendent Michael Wetherbee.
