It's never too late to recognize change makers in the Cairo-Durham Central School District! Congratulations to Kayla Alberson for being chosen as the Cairo Durham High School February Student of the Month. Kayla is pictured here with Mrs. Edwards. In school, she participates in soccer and was the varsity soccer goalie as a freshman. Kayla works really hard in all of her classes, but really focuses on her Algebra and Global Honors classes. Outside of school, Kayla enjoys going to the gym. She tries to go six days a week. Kayla also plays travel soccer, and she has been playing for the past 10 years. Kayla has three siblings. After high school, Kayla hopes to become a sheriff.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at a time to be determined. April 30, 2024 Dear Cairo-Durham Central School District Families, I am writing to you today to inform you that school will be closed on Friday, May 24, 2024 through Tuesday, May 28, 2024. With a mild winter leading to a limited use of snow days, the District is able to lengthen the Memorial Day weekend. We hope the extended weekend, with Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2024, will find students and staff refreshed for the final stretch of the 2023-24 school year when they return on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. At their Senior Match on Monday afternoon the Boys Varsity Tennis Team defeated Chatham in a double header by scores of 5-2 and 6-1. The next match for the tennis team is on Wednesday, 5/1, at Watervliet High School. The Varsity Baseball Team defeated cross-town rivals, Greenville, yesterday afternoon by a score of 14-2. Their next game is also on 5/1 versus Taconic Hills.

The Varsity Baseball Team has their Senior game this Wednesday, 5/1, at 4:30 versus Taconic Hills. Come out and support the 5 seniors on their last regularly scheduled game of the season.

Congratulations to Cairo-Durham High School Digital Photography student Emily Moon for taking home TWO awards at the Capital Region Media Arts Festival on April 23, 2024! Her photos titled, "Red Meets Blue" and "Schizophrenia" were recognized for her skills demonstrated in the categories of "Abstraction" and "Special Photographic Processes". In addition, the following Cairo-Durham High School Media Arts students also had their artwork selected for this exhibit: Jessica Baeckmann, Elexandreah Desmarais, Hanna Budz. Abby Hartmann, Jeremiah Newkirk, Aishwarya Thakur and Sam Winig. Their work was selected by a panel of Capital Region art educators and then adjudicated by art professionals. Congratulations, Mustangs!

On April 24, 2024, Cairo-Durham High School students Emma Kargoe, Colin MacGiffert and Tashana James and Cairo-Durham High School music teacher Sarah Clermont were recognized at the Capital District YMCA Student and Educator Breakfast at Pegasus in Coxsackie! The students and Ms. Clermont, along with the other Greene County school district recipients, were honored for their achievements inside and outside of the classroom. Representing Cairo-Durham Central School District, Superintendent Michael Wetherbee and Cairo-Durham High School Principal Catherine Dodig attended the event and are extremely proud of our Mustangs!

The Spring Sports Season is almost over and the Senior Games/Meets/Matches are all coming up in the near future. The schedule for our Senior Recognition Days is as follows: 4/29 - Boys Varsity Tennis 5/1 - Varsity Baseball 5/9 - Boys and Girls Varsity Track and Field 5/10 - JV Softball

The Boys Varsity Tennis Team defeated WAJ by a score of 6-1 on Thursday afternoon and their next match is a double header today versus Maple Hill but it is being played at Coxsackie-Athens.
