Girls Varsity Soccer
Cairo-Durham 4, Hudson 0
Goals scored by Amanda Ramos-Rivera (2), Aria McCabe, and Nia DeRose. Teamwork and defense are credited for the team's shutout performance!
Boys Varsity Soccer
Cairo-Durham 4, Hudson 1
Goals scored by Chase Kelly, Andrew Searing-Burke, Jonathan Saad, and Oliver Schrull. Jonathan Saad was also credited with two assists!

The visiting team has changed the time for today's Varsity Boys Soccer game scheduled for Monday, 9/23 @ 4:30 PM to 7pm at Hudson HS on the Soccer Turf Field. We apologize for any inconvenience as this was unexpected and out of our control.

Thursday Mustang Athletics Recap:
Varsity Tennis
Girls Tennis tied Hudson 3-3 (both teams forfeited one match).
Modified Volleyball
The Girl Modified volleyball team took a loss today against Greenville but not without a fight. The scores were 24-26, 13-25, and 31-29
The girls showed amazing teamwork and movement on the court. Amazing serving by Teagan Watkins, Alana Torres, Lily Zein, Grace Plank, Zoey Choinsky, Reagan Vandenburgh, and Kaylee Relyea. Teagan also added 3 amazing block and 1 kill.
Girls Varsity Soccer
Cairo-Durham 0, Maple Hill 1
The Girls Varsity Soccer team brought a good game on another hot mid-September day, but the early goal by Maple Hill ended being enough in a close 0-1 match. It was a fast and physical match with solid defense all around.
Boys Varsity Soccer
Cairo-Durham 0, Maple Hill 2
Jacob Young recorded 11 saves in goal.

Catskill/Cairo-Durham 27, Taconic Hills 0

Last week, students in MS and HS learned more about Suicide Prevention during lunches.
Thank you to AFSP for collaborating with Mrs. Drossel, our School Social Worker, who advises Sources of Strength. Bracelets, stickers, magnets, and even guitar pics with the AFSP logo were distributed! Students could choose from a variety of materials to spread messages of hope, and increase awareness and support, while decreasing the stigma of mental health challenges.
Interested students signed up for the Out of the Darkness Walk in Hudson on 10/13, for which Mrs. Drossel is coordinating a team.





The HS Homecoming Dance is on September 21st from 7pm-10pm! Don't miss out on the fun.

The Varsity Volleyball team put in a huge team effort to defeat Hudson 3 - 1. Games scores were 15 - 25, 25 - 20, 25 - 16, and 25 -18.
Player Highlights:
Danasia King: 19 assists and 2 kills
Leia Sorokurs: 19 serve points, 11 serve receive passes, and 5 digs
Neveah Sprague: 5 kills, 9 serve points with 5 aces
Ava Zeun: 9 kills, 2 blocks, 8 serve receive passes
Lauren Thompson: 15 serve receive passes and 8 digs
Addy Hall: 16 serve points with 5 aces, 7 serve receive passes
Zoe Vogel: 3 kills and 1 block
Maxi Dinjus, Sophia Rennig,and Katie Russell played a great game at the net with blocking.
Girls Varsity Soccer netted 4 goals to beat Stamford-Jefferson
Heat was the forecast and the day was hot, but the Girls Varsity Soccer C-D Mustangs stayed cool and held on to a 4-2 victory over visitors from Stamford, who traveled from afar and brought a good game. The Mustangs defense played well, and the team was working. Two goals each from Amanda Ramos-Rivera and Aria McCabe were enough, helped by nice assists from Mya DeRose, Abigail Wright, and Aria McCabe. Stamford goals by Emma Smith and Hannah Kirby as well an assist by Tierney Turner.

Support the Cairo-Durham Soccer Programs by getting a car wash on Sunday, September 15 at the elementary school! It starts at 9:30am and goes until 1pm. $15 per car.


On the first day of school yesterday, the Class of 2025 had a car parade from CDE to the HS as a kickstart to their senior year. Staff and faculty cheered them on as they arrived for their first day of school!

Fall picture days are scheduled for September 12 and 13 at both the Cairo-Durham Middle and High Schools. Photos will be taken during the student's gym class.


During the Cairo-Durham Central School District Board of Education meeting on August 14, 2024, Herbert Tedford was appointed as the new Assistant Principal at the Cairo-Durham Middle and High School.
Mr. Tedford, originally from Colonie, lived in Pueblo, Colorado for 25 years and received his education from Colorado State University-Pueblo (formally known as the University of Southern Colorado). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education/Biology and Coaching and a Master of Arts in Special Education and School Administration. Mr. Tedford also earned a Certificate of Advanced Study from the College of St. Rose.
“In high school, I was positively impacted and had positive relationships with my coaches, teachers, and principals – I wanted to provide the same for young people,” Mr. Tedford said.
He has worked in school administration in Colorado, Connecticut, and New York. Mr. Tedford has served at both the middle and high school levels as a principal, a special education principal, and an assistant principal.
“I’m most excited about building relationships with students and being instrumental in helping them make good choices that will positively impact them now and later in life,” Mr. Tedford said. “I also enjoy providing guidance in choosing a post-secondary pathway in the 3 E’s – Employment, Enlistment, or Enrollment.”
