Cairo-Durham voters approved the $35,174,903 budget for the 2022-23 school year with 344 in favor and 163 opposed. Voters also approved the following propositions:

  • Bus purchase (371 in favor, 133 opposed)
  • Capital reserve fund (349 in favor, 151 opposed)
  • Cairo Public Library appropriation (355 in favor, 151 opposed)

In the Board of Education election, incumbent Todd Hilgendorff was re-elected to a three-year term ending in June 2025. Also elected to three-year terms are James H. McManus III and Cheryl Moore. See below for the full election results:

The voter-approved spending plan will allow the District to preserve staffing levels and the varied academic and extracurricular opportunities available to students, as well as important student supports and services. Thank you to everyone who exercised their right to vote today.
