Mrs. Beare's class recently went outside for Science on a nature walk! Students used their five senses to explore the school campus and write sentences that described what they found while outside. The class also used their sentences to create drawings of their findings.
The class studied how to be a scientist, how scientists use their five senses to conduct experiments and learn more about the world around them.
Students also studied the trait of the week, "curiosity", to ask questions and learn more about the little things they saw outside.
We are so excited for the Fall Festival at the Cairo-Durham Elementary School playground THIS FRIDAY, September 29 from 5-7 p.m.

Approved at last Thursday's Board of Education meeting, October 13th, 2023 will be a District-wide Early Release Day for all students.
Students at the secondary campus will be released at 11:45 am and students at the elementary campus will be released at 12:45 pm.

Mrs. Thompson's class said farewell on Friday, September 22, to Amanda Rushkoski, an amazing member of the CDES team who will be starting a new journey in the Marshall Islands. The students made beautiful cards and wrote complete sentences in order to convey how much they appreciate all she does! Good luck Mrs. R, we will miss you!

On September 11, Ms. Wagor's class discussed the tragic day in American history, but how the United States came together during this challenging time. After September 11, many people united to show their support. To demonstrate this, Ms. Wagor's class created a "unity chain."
Students wrote one word or phrase on each strip that represents unity, such as "kindness," "helping others," "working together" and "peace". The class glued the strips of paper together to create chain links and then listened to each other talk about how we can promote unity and support each other in our daily lives.
