Cairo-Durham CSD is switching to a new system for mass notifications. As you know, we recently launched a new website and mobile app, and we are transitioning to the same platform for sending notifications.
Receiving Alerts/Notifications
Parents/guardians and staff are automatically signed up to receive school notifications with the contact information provided at the beginning of the school year. Within the next few days you should receive a welcome text message from the short code 98900. You may unsubscribe from these alerts at any time (see below).
There are several potential reasons you may receive phone calls, emails and/or text messages from the District, including:
- Emergency delays and closings (such as weather closures)
- Reminders of important dates and events
- Suspicious individuals or activities on or near school grounds
The District will test its new notification system at approximately 6 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022. All parents/guardians and staff should receive a test phone call around 6 p.m. If you do not receive a call, please contact the Main Office of your child’s school so we can update your contact information. Those who have not opted out of text alerts should also receive a "test" text message.
Phone alerts from the schools should display the phone number of the school contacting you (either 622-3231 for CDE, 622-0490 for CDMS, or 622-8543 for CDHS). Text messages will come from 98900. We recommend saving these phone numbers in your contacts for easy identification.
Unsubscribing
You can unsubscribe from phone and/or email alerts by emailing webmaster@cairodurham.org and submitting a written request to no longer receive these alerts. In your email, please include your name, your child’s name and school, and whether you want to stop receiving phone alerts, email alerts, or both. The District will still have your contact information and can contact you directly regarding your child(ren), if needed, however you will not receive messages sent through our mass notification system (e.g., weather delays or closures). If you change your mind and want to be removed from the Do Not Contact list, please email webmaster@cairodurham.org.
To stop receiving text messages from the District, you can unsubscribe by texting STOP to 98900.
