Cairo-Durham News

This Thursday, January 6th, the District will hand out free COVID-19 test kits for use at home. The purpose of these kits is to provide families with an at-home testing option for students who may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Participating in at-home testing for your student(s) is voluntary, however it is strongly recommended that you administer a home test to your child(ren) if they are symptomatic and keep them home from school if the result is positive. Please see this information sheet with details about what to do if your child's home test kit returns a positive result. It will be distributed with the test kits.

If you are interested in receiving a free home test kit for your child(ren), please plan to pick it up at Cairo-Durham Elementary School this Thursday, January 6th, in the bus loop at the front of the building. Test kits will be distributed “drive thru” style based on grade level at the following times:

  • 5-6:30 p.m. for Elementary School students
  • 6:30-8 p.m. for Middle/High School students

If you have students in more than one school building, you can pick up the test kits during either time slot listed above.

These test kits are intended for enrolled Cairo-Durham students only. Parents/Guardians are entitled to one test kit per student. If you or other non-students in your household need to be tested, please visit https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/find-test-site-near-you to find a nearby testing site.

We are seeing the impact of the Omicron Variant throughout the region and state. We ask for your continued cooperation in following our established COVID protocols, including indoor mask wearing, physical distancing, and staying home when sick. We will continue to keep you updated with any changes to conditions or protocols. Thank you for your continued patience and partnership.
