Students in Calculus and Pre Calculus with Ms. Jones at CDHS are frequently tasked with completing challenges in their curriculum. One recent challenge titled "Leap Frog" saw students move three red frogs and three yellow frogs to opposite sides of a seven space path while following certain restrictions. In the process, students work through frustration, practice persistence and learn their own learning style. Great job, all!

January is School Board Appreciation Month! Thank you to all of our Cairo-Durham Central School District Board of Education members for all you do for our school district!

Congratulations to Cairo-Durham High School senior Dean Parmelee on being named the winner of the Kirk Weiler mathematics contest. Weiler is a former New York state educator and owner of the company eMATHinstruction, a source of mathematics instruction and lessons for numerous schools in New York State. Parmelee will be rewarded with a personalized voice message from Weiler and Parmelee's photo published on the eMATHinstruction website. Congratulations, Dean!

Last call on the Penny Wars! The CDHS sophomore class declared a Penny War amongst all grades in the high school! All proceeds from the fundraiser will
support your favorite CDHS grade levels and a percentage from
each class will be donated to the Greene County Women's League.
How it works: Containers will be located in the Main Office of Cairo-Durham High School until Dec. 16.
Each penny counts as one positive point for your grade level
Each dollar counts as positive points for your grade level. Example: a $1 bill gets you 100 points, $5 bill gets you 500 points, etc.)
Each silver coin counts as negative points for OTHER grade levels. In other words, dropping a quarter in another grade’s bucket takes 25 points from their total.
Points will be tallied and the winning class will win a prize which is to be determined.
Best of luck, high schoolers!
