2024 Mustang Pride Hall of Fame Nominations Open! Do you know a person or community organization that has given extensive service to the Cairo-Durham Central School District? Nominate them for the Mustang Pride Hall of Fame! To nominate a person or community organization, please use this nomination form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfMg8B8x-nRUYL-EkALeiWsyzpATC10DzL_WNcjTAiiZnQbAA/viewform?usp=sf_link). See below for the criteria. Nominations will be accepted through February 1, 2024. The chosen nominees will be honored at a Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Shamrock House on April 27, 2024. Criteria: Nominees must have contributed to the improvement of Cairo-Durham CSD with extensive service through: academics, athletics, coaching, teaching, administration, employment, volunteerism and/or community service. Nominees can be past or present staff members, school administrators, Board of Education members, alumni and community members or organizations. On March 14, 2024, the Cairo-Durham High School Classes are hosting an 'Elementary Teacher vs. Middle/High School Teacher' basketball game as a fundraiser! Tickets for entrance to the game will be sold, as well as concessions. The CDTA will sell 50/50 tickets, with proceeds toward the CDTA Scholarship fund. The Booster Club will be selling School Merchandise. NEWS RELEASE from Cairo-Durham Central School District FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jan. 29, 2024 Cairo-Durham Central School District Announces Greene County Chief ADA Jeffrey Low as First “Mustang Monthly Alumni Spotlight” Recipient CAIRO, NY – The Cairo-Durham Central School District is proud to announce the January 2024 recipient of the “Mustang Monthly Alumni Spotlight” is Greene County Chief Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Low (‘89). Low has lived a life of public service following his graduation from Cairo-Durham High School, serving the U.S. Border Patrol and operating a sole legal practice prior to his appointment as Greene County Chief Assistant District Attorney in January 2024. “I am humbled to be recognized by the Cairo-Durham School District’s (Mustang Monthly) Alumni Spotlight,” Low said. “I spent the entirety of my elementary and high school years at Cairo-Durham. During those formative years, I was taught the value of hard work that allowed me to accomplish my goals. The true inspirations and heroes in our community come from the tireless efforts of our teachers and educators. Those heroes provided me with the educational foundations and the confidence to graduate from law school.” Low, who has served as a prosecutor for the Cairo-Durham and Greene County communities for 10 years, was nominated by Lillian McCabe for his ability to give back to the next generation of Mustangs. “Personally, Jeff presents genuine character marked by modesty and empathy. He does what is right rather than what is expedient,” McCabe said. “Jeff has volunteered his time outside of work sharing the athletic abilities he developed at Cairo-Durham (as a 1988 Baseball Section II champion) coaching local youth baseball and he has been competing in triathlons. Jeff Low is undoubtedly a meaningful role model to our students, personally and professionally.” An active participant in Cairo-Durham activities, Low said the lessons he received from influential staff members during his time at Cairo-Durham helped shape his career path and skillset. “My time at Cairo-Durham not only included classroom learning. I was a member of the school band and a representative for my class in the student council. I played basketball for Coach Waldron and baseball for Coach Karnes. Involvement in these extracurricular activities instilled life lessons on the value of teamwork and leadership. I want to say thank you and express my gratitude to my teachers, guidance counselors and coaches during my years at Cairo-Durham. The Boys Varsity Volleyball Team earned another win last night by defeating Catskill 3-0. The next game for the Mustangs is on Monday, 1/29, versus Voorheesville and will be their Senior Game. The Varsity Bowling Team lost to Maple Hill yesterday by a score of 5-0, their next match is on Tuesday, 1/30, versus Catskill, and this will be their Senior Match.

After learning about the benefits of nutrients in the body, the Cairo-Durham High School Learning Program put their knowledge and cooking skills to the test and made a nutritious meal. Students made variations of veggie pizza, flatbreads and a salad. Great job, students!
