Congratulations to Gianna Helmedach, chosen as the Cairo-Durham High School Student of the month for September 2021! Gianna is pictured here with her AP Biology teacher, Mrs. Susan Boyle, whom she greatly admires and respects.
Gianna has excelled academically and socially here at Cairo-Durham, fulfilling all of her responsibilities with maturity and grace. She is a member of the National Honor Society and president of her junior class.
Gianna has proven to be a hard-working and dedicated student, taking both honors and AP courses throughout her high school journey. She is known by her peers as someone who is confident, kind, and empathetic of others.
Gianna manages her time and priorities expertly, enabling her to fulfill both high academic standards as well as being an active participant in extra-curricular activities! She is a member of our CD Girls Varsity Soccer team, has participated in the school musical, and is an asset to our music department as she consistently partakes in band, jazz band, chorus, and women’s choir.
In the time that Gianna has outside of school, she enjoys reading, being in the great outdoors, spending time with family and friends and enjoying gymnastics; she was the first place recipient at the regional level for this!
After high school Gianna hopes to attend the University of Buffalo, earn her master’s degree in nursing and then work toward her dream of becoming a pediatrician. Her kind heart and gentle yet determined and mature spirit will certainly excel in providing care for others in this way.
Gianna makes Cairo-Durham shine; she is a pleasure to meet in the hallways and in the classroom; her joyful, optimistic character is a welcome example and inspiration to all. We are very proud of her and are pleased to be able to recognize her in this way. Congratulations Gianna!
