Three Positive Cases at CDMS/HS (1/11)

January 11, 2021

Dear Cairo-Durham Families,

The District was recently informed of three individuals who tested positive for COVID-19:

  • A high school student - The student has not been present in school since before the holiday recess. Due to the length of time since they were last in school, no contact tracing within the school is required.
  • A staff member at Cairo-Durham Middle/High School - The individual has not been present in school since before the holiday recess. Due to the length of time since they were last in school, no contact tracing within the school is required.
  • A staff member at Cairo-Durham Middle/High School - The individual was last in school on Friday, January 8th. After working with the Greene County Department of Health to complete contact tracing, any students or staff who need to quarantine as a precaution have been notified. If you were not contacted by a representative of the District or DOH, there is no further action needed on your part.

The DOH has advised that it is safe for our schools to remain open and in-person instruction at the MS/HS can continue as planned. Please be assured that we are continuing to enforce all health and safety protocols within our school buildings, including heightened cleaning measures several times a week and on weekends.

While I understand that you would like additional details, we are not permitted by privacy laws to disclose any personally identifiable information. Anyone with questions and/or who needs to report a COVID-19 related health issue should contact their child’s principal. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Thank you for your continuing efforts to keep our school community safe and buildings open for students and staff.

Sincerely,

Michael Wetherbee
Superintendent of Schools
