Positive Case at CDMS (12/11)

December 11, 2020

Dear Cairo-Durham Families,

The District was notified today that a middle school student tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last present in school on Tuesday, December 8th.

We have been in communication with the Greene County Department of Health to conduct contact tracing and notify any students or staff who need to quarantine as a precaution. We encourage you to offer your full cooperation if you are contacted by a representative of the county health department or our school district. If you are not contacted by a representative, there is no further action needed on your part.

Since the MS/HS has already shifted to remote instruction following the positive high school student and subsequent staff quarantines earlier this week, there is no immediate impact on the learning environment. Grades K-5 are not affected and will continue to participate in regular instruction as planned.

Please be reminded that free breakfast and lunch are available for all students (K-12) regardless of whether they are learning in school or remotely. If you need school breakfast and lunch delivered to your student while they are learning remotely, please contact your school’s main office as soon as possible to sign up:

  • Elementary School: 518-622-3231
  • Middle School: 518-622-0490
  • High School: 518-622-8543

We greatly appreciate your continued support and flexibility during this unprecedented school year. If you have questions or need assistance, or if you need to report a COVID-19 related health issue, please do not hesitate to reach out to the schools or email your child’s principal.

Sincerely,

Michael Wetherbee
Superintendent of Schools
