Positive Case at CDE (12/15)

December 15, 2020

Dear Cairo-Durham Families,

The District was notified today of a staff member at Cairo-Durham Elementary School who tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last in school on Friday, December 11th.

We continue to work closely with the Greene County Department of Health and follow their guidance each time our district has a positive case. As we work to complete contact tracing, a representative of the county health department or our school district will reach out to parents of students who were in close contact with the positive individual and need to be placed on precautionary quarantine. We encourage you to offer your full cooperation if you are contacted. If you do not receive a call, your child does not have to quarantine.

At this time, all grades will continue with remote instruction until the holiday recess. If you need free student meals during this period of remote learning, please contact your school’s main office to sign up for free:

  • Elementary School: 518-622-3231
  • Middle School: 518-622-0490
  • High School: 518-622-8543

This notification to parents and guardians is part of our commitment to keep you informed about COVID-19 cases. The District continues to thoroughly clean and disinfect all buildings, even on weekends, in accordance with New York State Department of Health and CDC guidance.

If you have questions or need assistance, or if you need to report a COVID-19 related health issue, please do not hesitate to reach out to the schools or email your child’s principal.
