Dear Cairo-Durham Families,
Today the District was informed that a student at Cairo-Durham Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19 last week. The student has not been physically present in school since November 17th. Per our health and safety protocols, the District has been in communication with the New York State and Greene County Departments of Health to determine if any follow-up steps are needed. At this time, there is no further action. Based on the student’s last date of in-person attendance, the DOH has advised that in-person instruction at CDE can continue as usual.
Please continue to monitor your family’s health daily, check your child’s temperature and complete the daily health screening questionnaire prior to sending them to school every day. It is important to know the symptoms of COVID-19 and how to identify them in yourself and others. Common symptoms include fever (100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or greater), coughing, shortness of breath, and new loss of taste or smell. The DOH has indicated that loss of taste or smell may be a primary indicator of COVID-19 in asymptomatic individuals. Anyone with questions or who needs to report a COVID-19 related health issue should contact their building principal or school nurse.
Thank you for your continuing efforts to keep our school community safe and buildings open for students and staff.
