The Cairo-Durham Central School District Board of Education will have four (4) open seats up for election this May as the terms of the following current members are set to expire: Brian Coletti, Elizabeth Daly, David Infantino and Chris O’Connell. Three seats are three-year, non-paid terms ending in June 2024. One seat is a one-year, non-paid term ending in June 2022.
If you’re interested in joining the CDCSD Board of Education, contact the Board Clerk to get a nominating petition (518-622-8534, ext. 25010). Completed nominating petitions are due back to the Board Clerk in the District Office by Monday, April 19, 2021, at 5 p.m. Prospective candidates must have a primary residence in the Cairo-Durham Central School District and be registered voters.
BOE elections will take place with the annual school budget vote on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, from 1 - 9 p.m. Of the four candidates elected, the one who receives the fewest votes will win the one-year term ending on June 30, 2022.
Responsibilities of school board members include:
- Creating a shared vision for the future of education at Cairo-Durham
- Setting the direction of the school district to achieve high student performance
- Creating strategic partnerships with community stakeholders
- Budget development and adoption
- Policy development and adoption
