Letter About Halloween Events at CDE

October 20, 2020

Dear Cairo-Durham Elementary families,

This year we have faced many challenges that force us to make decisions which impact the normalcy of our lives. The upcoming Halloween events are no exception to this. Below I have outlined what Halloween will consist of at Cairo-Durham Elementary this year.

In an abundance of caution, the Halloween parade scheduled for Friday, October 30th has been canceled. We simply cannot gather in large groups like we have in the past.

On October 30th, students, teachers, and staff are invited to wear Halloween themed clothing. All attire must be appropriate and follow the school’s dress code. Classrooms are welcome to celebrate Halloween with movies, music, and activities that follow the health and safety guidelines. No parents are permitted to enter the building and no outside food or beverages can be brought into school.

The PTA has scheduled their drive-thru Trunk or Treat event for Thursday, October 29th from 5-6:30 p.m. Cars will drive to the rear entrance of the school and through the parking lot as they are greeted by decorated trunks and people in costumes. No one is permitted to get out of their vehicle. Goodie bags will be distributed to each vehicle before exiting onto Main Street.

I thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we celebrate Halloween as best we can, while ensuring that all students, faculty and staff remain safe and healthy.

Mr. Christopher Stein
