Please be aware that Cairo-Durham Elementary School will be the site of law enforcement demonstrations for school staff on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. There is no student attendance on that date. This “tabletop” instruction session is for school staff only and is closed to the public.
Due to these activities, you will likely see several law enforcement vehicles parked at the elementary school (424 Main St, Cairo) on Wednesday, June 26th between the hours of 9-11 a.m. There is no need to be concerned.
The purpose of these demonstrations is to educate school staff on police procedures during emergency situations. Police participants will include the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and possibly State Police and other emergency services. They will show staff how they perform sweeps and other activities related to possible threats in the school. This event will be a simulation only and no weapons will be involved.
Again, this is just a drill to demonstrate procedures for school staff. Please share this information with your friends and neighbors.
