Congrats to the five Chorus and three Band students who were selected to perform at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Area All-State Concert last month! To be selected, students must score high enough during solo performances graded by music educators from across NYS. Congratulations to Alexis Cummings, Ashton DiDomenico, Edison Gandara-Triestman, Connor Greco, Saylor Lewtschenko, Drew Sirago, Christine Steinbach and Anthony Zeledon on their achievements!
Furthermore, senior Alexis Cummings was selected to be part of the Treble Chorus at the NYSSMA Conference All-State Music Festival in Rochester on November 29th-December 2nd. In order to be selected for this performance group, Alexis prepared a solo of the most difficult festival level to perform for an adjudicator at the NYSSMA Solo Festival in June. Her score on the solo performance, and her recommendations from the judge and her music teacher, made her one of a few dozen Altos chosen from thousands of New York State juniors and seniors. At the conference, Alexis had three days of rehearsal with a well-renowned music director before performing in the culminating concert at the Eastman School of Music.
Alexis (pictured) said relating to her experience, "It was humbling and overwhelming to be around so many people who love music as much as I do. The experience showed that this is my passion and something I want to do for the rest of my life.”
Congratulations again to Alexis, Ashton, Edison, Connor, Saylor, Drew, Christine and Anthony on their achievements!
