The Cairo-Durham CSD Board of Education is delighted to announce they have selected the district’s next superintendent.
Michael Wetherbee, a 13-year veteran of the superintendency, was appointed by the Board of Education at a special meeting on Monday, July 29, 2019. Mr. Wetherbee will begin his service to the district on August 5th.
Cairo-Durham Board President Stephen Brandow said the Board is excited to welcome Wetherbee to the district.
“The experience and skills Mr. Wetherbee bring to our district will support and continue to grow our tradition of fostering innovation and supporting diverse life-long learners who positively impact the world,” Brandow said in a prepared statement.
The school board worked with different stakeholder groups throughout the interview process to interview three very strong final candidates. The committee included staff, parents, students and community members.
“We looked for an individual who combined the necessary vision of education in today’s world and the unique needs of our own school district,” Brandow said. “Mr. Wetherbee satisfies that vision and has the experience to lead us forward.”
Wetherbee has 23 years of educational experience, 19 of those focused on district leadership. He has been a school psychologist, director of pupil personnel service, school business administrator, and superintendent.
