As a result of a fatal car accident in 2011, Cairo-Durham CSD lobbied very hard to get a traffic light installed at the entrance to the Middle/High School campus on Route 145, however its request was denied by the Department of Transportation. Instead, the DOT’s solution was to reduce the speed limit to 45 mph on this stretch of Route 145. Mr.
May 3, 2016 – Cairo-Durham High School Principal Nick Fitzgerald was involved in a car accident near the entrance of the middle/high school campus this morning. He was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, he is in the hospital, but he is alert and going to be okay.
“We wish Mr. Fitzgerald a speedy recovery. He is a well-liked and respected member of our school community,” said Cairo-Durham CSD Superintendent Anthony Taibi.

The District Wide Shared Decision Making Team meeting that was scheduled for Friday, March 6th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 24, 2015, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the HS/MS Media Center.
