Positive Case in District (1/19)

January 19, 2021

Dear Cairo-Durham Families,

Today the District was informed that a bus driver tested positive for COVID-19. The individual’s last date at work was Tuesday, January 12th. We worked with the Greene County Department of Health to complete contact tracing and notify any individuals who need to quarantine as a precaution. If you were not contacted by a district or DOH representative, there is no further action on your part. Please be reminded that our new cleaning protocol includes buses in addition to the school buildings.

After completing the contact tracing, it was determined that there is no impact on the in-person learning environment and classes may continue as planned. However, Pre-K through Grade 5 will continue with remote learning until next Monday, January 25th. As a reminder, CDE was forced to pivot to remote instruction this week following two positive cases that led to staffing shortages due to precautionary quarantines.

While I understand that you would like additional details, we are not permitted by privacy laws to disclose any personally identifiable information. Anyone with questions and/or who needs to report a COVID-19 related health issue should contact their child’s principal. Thank you for your understanding and support during these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Michael Wetherbee
Superintendent of Schools
