Students experienced history coming to life right before their eyes when “General Nathanael Greene” visited CDMS to share his knowledge with seventh grade Social Studies classes.

General Greene, for whom Greene County is named, was portrayed by Greene County Historical Society president Bob Hallock.

While in character, Mr. Hallock talked about the American Revolution and engaged seventh-graders with his first person interpretation of General Greene, who was a Revolutionary War hero. Students participated in reenactments and passed around historical items such as a brick of tea, which the students found fascinating!

Many thanks to Mr. Hallock, the Greene County Historical Society and CDMS teacher Ms. Young for organizing this unique lesson.
