Congratulations to Connor Shields, chosen as the Cairo-Durham High School Student of the Month for February 2021! Connor is a sophomore this year taking a range of challenging classes from Digital Electronics to Algebra II. He has been a quiet, intelligent and positive leader in the building since September, and a great role model for his peers to follow. We are looking forward to this young man’s future with great enthusiasm. Here are a couple of quotes from his current teachers.
“Connor does not seek the limelight. Beneath his quiet demeanor, however, lies an engaged and focused student. Connor approaches English assignments in a thoughtful manner and is often able to discern complex themes and motifs from class reading. He has a dry wit which he occasionally lets loose in his writing.” - Mrs. Dougherty
“Connor is quiet unless called on. He is great when it comes to constructive criticism, he is good at analyzing topics and formulating answers and solutions. He is also very caring. I know he looks out for his friends and helps them with chemistry as well. He is just a solid student and he has good loyalty to his friends. He is ultimately someone who cares.” - Mr. Yaple
The best to you Connor! Congratulations and thank you for being such an inspiration to so many!
