Ryan Holdridge is the Valedictorian of the Cairo-Durham Class of 2018. He has been a member of the National Honor Society throughout high school, is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and a member of the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth for the last six years. Ryan is also a member of the Cairo-Durham Model UN club, acting as Vice President his senior year. He participated with the Interact Club and Backpack Program and has volunteered for the Cairo-Durham 5K Run for several years. Ryan has been recognized for his academic achievements by receiving the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award from the University of Rochester and the Cornell University Admissions Invitation Award his junior year. Ryan also won a commercial loan contest sponsored by the Bank of Greene County in his freshman year. Ryan has been nominated as a student representative for the People to People International Student Ambassador Program, the National Youth Leadership Forum Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders, and the Young Scholars Program through the University of Maryland. Throughout his high school career, Ryan has challenged himself by taking AP and Honors classes, and has received recognition in several areas for outstanding achievements. Ryan’s interests include playing video games, politics, history, and reading and collecting graphic novels. In the fall, Ryan will be attending the College of Saint Rose, majoring in History. In the future, Ryan would like to teach secondary and college History.
