CD High School Student of the Month - May 2019

Congratulations to Nicole Diaz, chosen as the Cairo-Durham High School Student of the Month for May 2019! Nicole has chosen her former English teacher, Mrs. Morton, to represent her as she receives this award. Nicole enjoys sports and the arts. By ninth grade, she had already written her first short story; quite a daunting task, yet it was amazing. Her talent and determination were evident from the start! Nicole’s love of writing has continued to be an avenue for thought and something that she completely enjoys doing in her spare time. Here at Cairo-Durham, she has been active on our track and volleyball teams as well as being a cheerleader. Now, as a “soon to be graduating” senior, she will begin taking the steps to fulfill her goal of becoming an athletic trainer! Her studies will begin this year at the University of Albany. Nicole is an extremely friendly, respectful, diligent and hard-working student. She has been on both the honor and high honor rolls consistently throughout her high school years. She has thoroughly enjoyed her high school journey and feels that it went by extremely quickly! For several years, Nicole has worked during the summer at our local Zoom Flume Water Park and more recently she can be found serving others with her cheerful personality at the Chicken Run Restaurant in Windham, NY. Teachers and students alike appreciate Nicole’s positive, helpful, and sincere attitude. We are honored to have had her with us at Cairo-Durham and to be able to recognize her efforts with this award. Nicole is wished success and happiness as she continues to pursue her dreams and share her joyful spirit with others!
