Board of Education Candidates
The Cairo-Durham CSD Board of Education has three (3) Board vacancies on the May 2017 budget ballot. Each seat is a three-year, non-paid term.
Two candidates currently serve on the Board and are running for re-election. They are David Infantino and Stephen Brandow. The third seat will be awarded to whichever write-in candidate receives the highest number of votes.
Attention All Cairo-Durham Community Members:
During last year’s budget development process, the district held a very successful, well-attended Community Conversations Forum. Community members were informed of the proposed budget, the changes that were needed and the opportunity to provide their individual input regarding these changes.
The Board of Education met last evening at which time Superintendent Anthony Taibi, and Business Manager Jeffrey Miriello, discussed the district's 2016-2017 budget and the leading cost factors involved in the development of next year’s spending plan. The presentation is available here. Please note this video contains audio.
The next board meeting will be held Thursday, December 10, at 7pm, at the Middle/High School Media Center. The meeting will include a Public Input Session regarding 2016-2017 budget development and immediately follows this month's Board of Education Workshop regarding the district's financial plan. The workshop, also being held in the Media Center begins at 6pm.
A local board of education is an agency of New York State governed by NYS law and the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education. There are nine residents who serve, without pay, on the Cairo-Durham Central School District's Board of Education.
