Parent Institute: Attendance Matters!

On Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 at 6 p.m. we will be featuring “The Parent Institute Presentation: Attendance Matters! Building Success Day by Day”. We are inviting all UPK-5th Grade families to join us in this informative presentation regarding why attendance is so important to a student’s success. We will be concluding our evening with an ice cream social. Children are welcome to attend as we will be providing babysitting in our small gym.

2015-2016 Budget Input

If you could not attend the session on December 4th, but would still like to submit your feedback on next year's budget, please complete the form below. All submissions will be shared with the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education.

Budget Input Session

Cairo-Durham community: The district wants your input! Tonight at 7 p.m. in the HS/MS Media Center, the Cairo-Durham Central School District Board of Education will meet with members of the community to listen to their ideas, concerns, and questions regarding the district’s 2015-16 spending plan. The input session will serve as the kick-off to this year’s budget deliberations.

Elementary School holds Museum of Learning

On Friday, November 21, the Cairo-Durham Elementary School held its second annual Museum of Learning where students exhibited the work they have done in school this year. Families were invited to walk throughout the school building to view students’ presentations, which were displayed in hallways and classrooms. Students also took a walk around the museum to appreciate each other’s work. Museum-goers viewed artwork, learned about various projects, ate food, and enjoyed music.

High school holds holiday concert

The high school band and chorus held a holiday concert and dinner for senior citizens on December 3. Audience enjoyed performances by the handbell group, the women's chorale, solo musicians, the band, and the chorus.

Teaching Is The Core Grant

Cairo-Durham CSD is proud to be a part of the Teaching Is The Core grant.

A consortium of local school districts led by Questar III BOCES will receive $399,314 in grant funding to review and improve student assessment practices this school year.

Questar III received a “Teaching is the Core” grant from the New York State Education Department to work with Brunswick CSD, Cairo-Durham CSD, Catskill CSD, Coxsackie-Athens CSD, Hoosick Falls CSD, Hudson City SD, New Lebanon CSD, North Greenbush CSD, Rensselaer CSD, Tech Valley High School, and Wynantskill UFSD.

District Wide Shared Decision Making meeting canceled

The District Wide Shared Decision Making team meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, December 4 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. has been canceled.

The next DWSDM team meeting will be held on Thursday, December 18th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the MS/HS Media Center.
