(May 1, 2018) -- Another proposition on the May 15, 2018, ballot addresses an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) project. An EPC is an agreement by an Energy Service Company (ESCO) for the provision of energy services in which energy systems are installed, maintained or managed to improve the energy efficiency of, or produce energy for, a facility in exchange for a portion of the energy savings. The scope of this project looks to improve the energy efficiency in all of our district buildings in order to generate savings to the District by decreasing energy demand. Examples include replacing/upgrading interior lighting, boilers, insulation and HVAC systems and controls.
Although this project does not require voter approval, the community has an opportunity to vote on it and allow the District to receive additional state building aid. If voters approve the EPC project, the District will receive an additional 10% in state building aid.
