Freshman Orientation is on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 starting at 5:45 p.m. at Cairo-Durham High School. Incoming ninth graders and their parents/guardians can learn about the high school experience, meet some of the teachers and tour the building. Students will also receive their class schedules.
During orientation, incoming freshmen will also receive Chromebook laptops to use throughout the school year. Students and their parents/guardians will be required to attend the Parent/Student Academy portion of orientation in order to review policies related to the use of school Chromebooks. Details are also included in this downloadable flyer (PDF).
"Early Bird" Chromebook Distribution: Incoming freshmen can get their Chromebooks early by attending the “Early Bird” Parent/Student Academy on Thursday, August 17 from 5:45-7 p.m. (Both students and their parents/guardians must attend. If you attend the "Early Bird" session, you only have to attend the Freshman Orientation portion on August 23.)
To learn more about the district's new Connected Classroom initiative, which will eventually provide all students at Cairo-Durham Middle/High School with their own Chromebook laptops to use throughout the school year, see this letter from Superintendent Taibi (PDF).
