CDE PTA Sold Thousands of Cupcakes for Clara Ray

8-month-old Clara Ray

The Cairo-Durham Elementary PTA “Cupcakes for Clara Ray” fundraiser raised a total of $5,600 to support local 8-month-old Clara Ray Morton, who is struggling with Congenital Heart Disease. The CDE PTA sold more than 4,600 cupcakes from Coccadotts Cake Shop in Albany for one dollar each, in addition to receiving $1,000 in monetary donations and the use of a box truck to transport thousands of cupcakes.

The Cairo-Durham Central School District is raising additional funds through the “Quarters for Clara Ray” event, in which students bring quarters to school throughout February and March. CDE hopes to reach their goal of $500 (2,000 quarters) by the end of March.

All of the money raised will be given to the Morton Family to help offset the expenses of Clara Ray’s medical treatment in Boston.

Thank you to everyone in the community who purchased cupcakes or simply donated their time, money and resources to support a local family!
