High School Senior, Ryan Margiasso, Named Eagle Scout

Ryan Andrew Margiasso, the son of Jim & Rhonda (Fancher) Margiasso of South Cairo has achieved Eagle Scout the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. As a member of Troop # 43, chartered by the Cairo-Durham Elks Lodge, Ryan has lived the Scout ideals, earned the required merit badges and planned, conducted and completed a service project.
Ryan began Cub Scouts in 1st grade as a Tiger Scout under the former Pack # 143 of Cairo. He advanced through Bobcat, Wolf, Bear and the Webelos programs and bridged over to Troop # 43’s Boy Scouts under the Rip Van Winkle Council. Ryan has held the positions of Quarter Master, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Instructor and Senior Patrol Leader. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow.
For his Eagle project, Ryan designed and built storage compartments for baseball equipment such as helmets and gloves and built bat racks for the Cairo Little League’s “A” and “B” field dugouts at the Town of Cairo’s Angelo Canna Town Park. Ryan having grown up through the Cairo Little League program wanted to give something back to the future kids coming up into the program. Special thanks are extended to the Town of Cairo for financial sponsorship of Ryan’s service project.
Ryan is a senior at Cairo-Durham Central School. He has been accepted at Morrisville State College where he plans to pursue a Bachelor of Technology degree in Criminal Justice. Ryan aspires to be a New York State Trooper or United States Marshall.
An Eagle Court of Honor is planned for April 24th to honor Ryan as Troop # 43’s new Eagle Scout. The ceremony will take place at the United Methodist Church in Norton Hill where Ryan was baptized, participated in the Sunday School program and was confirmed as a member. A special ceremony for a special Scout; where Ryan will receive the much deserved Eagle Scout award.
