Middle School Students Participate in Red Ribbon Week
During National Red Ribbon Week students in grades six through eight participated in activities to raise awareness for alcohol, tobacco and drug violence and prevention. Red Ribbon Week provides a fun and interactive way for young people to learn how to make good decisions regarding the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. On “Use Your Head, Wear Red” day students and teachers dressed in red and the cafeteria served red foods including spaghetti and meatballs, apples and jello. On “Living Drug Free is No Sweat!” and “Use Your Head and Roll out of Bed!” day students came to school wearing their favorite sweatpants, slippers or pajamas.
A highlight of the week was an interactive presentation provided by the New Visions class at Questar III. Student volunteers participated in a Family Feud style game show. Each team identified the top answers for questions related to the use and prevention of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
To end the week of events Middle School Guidance Counselor, Kristina Westfall, challenged students to a poster contest. The contest winners were Samantha Gallo, Kaitlyn Harty and Donald Jackson for their posters representing the importance of staying alcohol, tobacco and drug free. Seen here are Samantha Gallo and Donald Jackson with their posters.
