Durham Elementary students in Ms. Williams’ 5th grade class study Westward Expansion.

Each student created a visual of 19th century life by making covered wagons - an icon of the American Old West.

Although covered wagons were commonly used for shorter moves within the United States, in the mid-nineteenth century thousands of Americans took them across the plains to Oregon and California.
