High School Entrance
Cairo-Durham High School houses approximately 600 students, grades 9-12, who follow an alternate day block schedule. High school students are offered a broad range of activities, including band, chorus, drama, student government and interscholastic sports. Combining classroom and project-based learning, high school the faculty encourages learning and problem solving. In addition, advanced placement courses are available for students to earn college credit.

High School Senior, Ryan Margiasso, Named Eagle Scout

Ryan Andrew Margiasso, the son of Jim & Rhonda (Fancher) Margiasso of South Cairo has achieved Eagle Scout the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. As a member of Troop # 43, chartered by the Cairo-Durham Elks Lodge, Ryan has lived the Scout ideals, earned the required merit badges and planned, conducted and completed a service project.
Grant Provides New Technology for Science Classes
Thanks to DonorsChoose.org the Science Department at Cairo-Durham High School has received a new digital camera designed to be used with microscopes. The camera will give all students in a class the ability to view a live feed of what is being seen in a microscope. The camera can also take video or still shots that can be saved to a computer and used at a later time.
High School Students Celebrate the Life of Martin Luther King Jr.
Members of Cairo-Durham High School’s Interact Club celebrated the life of Martin Luther King Jr. at Catskill’s Eighth Annual Martin Luther King Day march. Fourteen members of the club attended the evening event that included music and historical readings. Seen here are Interact Club members with Advisor Heather Maassmann.
