2010-2011 Budget Information

Cairo-Durham Central School District is currently putting together the 2010-2011 school year budget. We will keep the community updated as the budget process develops.

This year's budget vote, as set by New York State, will be held on Tuesday, May 18 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Middle School Cafeteria.

FOUR POSITIONS ON THE BOARD OF EDUCATION WILL BE FILLED AS FOLLOWS:

A member for a full term of three (3) years to fill the expired term of GREG KOERNER-FOX.

A member for a full term of three (3) years to fill the expired term of THOMAS PLANK.

A member for a full term of three (3) years to fill the expired term of FRED ZIMMERMAN.


Information on Governor Paterson’s Proposed 2010-2011 Executive Budget

Governor David Paterson's proposed 2010-2011 executive budget, was released on Tuesday, January 19, and cuts state funding to Cairo-Durham schools.

Under the Governor’s proposed budget, Cairo-Durham Central School District would see a reduction of $1,340,438 or a 7.6 percent cut in state aid next school year.

The Governor’s budget proposal indicates that Foundation Aid – aid on most operating expenses – would remain flat through 2011-2012. The Governor also has proposed a one-time $1.4 billion reduction to certain aid categories.

Frequently Asked Budget Questions

Q: What are the voter qualifications?
A: All voters must be United States citizens, age 18 or older on Election Day, residents of the Cairo-Durham Central School District for 30 days immediately prior to Election Day and registered to vote.

Q: How and where do you register to vote?
A: Voter registration is required. Voters can register to vote with the Greene County Board of Elections or with the district at the High School lobby from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 11, 2010. If you have voted in a school election in the past 4 years, then you are already registered to vote.

APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT VOTING ON MAY 18, 2010

ABSENTEE BALLOTS, EDUCATION LAW, SEC. 2018 A

Anytime after April 19, 2010, a person can pick up, download, or request a mailed copy of the Application for an Absentee Ballot at the Business Office on Main Street, Cairo, NY. It will be mailed by the Clerk of the Board of Education no sooner than 30 days prior to the vote and not later then 7 days prior to the vote (May 18, 2010).
