High School Senior, Ryan Margiasso, Named Eagle Scout

Ryan Andrew Margiasso, the son of Jim & Rhonda (Fancher) Margiasso of South Cairo has achieved Eagle Scout the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. As a member of Troop # 43, chartered by the Cairo-Durham Elks Lodge, Ryan has lived the Scout ideals, earned the required merit badges and planned, conducted and completed a service project.

Interested in running for the Board of Education? A nominating petition, including instructions and requirements for candidates, is available
here.

Petitions must be filed 30 days prior to annual election. The annual election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 18, 2010.


BOE Forum/Regular Meeting Draft Agenda - 3/11/10

Attached is the Draft Agenda for the BOE Forum and Regular Meeting scheduled for March 11, 2010 in the MIDDLE SCHOOL CAFETERIA. PLEASE NOTE:THE FORUM IS AT 6:00PM AND THE REGULAR MEETING IS AT 6:30PM.
Also, please note that there is a Board Workshop scheduled for March 10, 2010 at 6:30PM in the Middle School Cafeteria. The purpose of the workshop is to review the Facilities Study and the Wood Fired Boilers Project.

Governor Paterson proposes to cut School Resource Officers

Funding for the program that provides New York State Troopers as School Resource Officers (SRO’s) is in jeopardy for the 2010-11 school year. Governor Paterson is proposing to eliminate SRO's. This will result in the elimination of SRO Trooper Boehm’s position at Cairo-Durham CSD.

Let Governor Paterson and your local representatives know that eliminating the SRO program is a loss for any school district. Letters and emails can be sent below:
